Bobby Gordon-Smith is one of the stalwarts of the London buildering scene. And by ‘London buildering scene’ I’m talking here about a group of 5 or 6 people, some of whom don’t even know each other. ‘London buildering accident’ would probably be a more accurate description. So describing Bobby as a stalwart of said accident is probably not that much of a compliment. Sorry.
Bobby explains that his technique isn’t as esoteric as it might seem. “It’s actually the least physically demanding way of doing the climb. Trying to stand up uses a lot of leg strength while pushing hard against the tiny, slippery undercut. And yeah, the dyno is quicker but it’s hard to do it that way consistently as the wall doesn’t give much friction.”
When in doubt, invert.
