Hey guys, I've been lurking here for a while. Thought I'd get around to finally post some pics. I'm more into urbex/infiltration than buildering, but to access some of the places I did have to climb up some things.

Hello!

Wow sweet, a buildering forum! Thought I should register and introduce myself Smiling I've been rock climbing for probably 5 years or so now.. climb pretty hard (solid v7s) but I've been climbing building my whole life. My friends and I have climbed pretty much every public school in a 20 mile radius, and projected every square inch of our old high/middle schools. Never gets old Laughing out loud

Anybody have buildering meets in the Seattle area? It's not exactly buildering season, but we get dry spells here and there. I'm always down for some late night buildering.. haven't even touched the UW yet O_O

Vancouver locations - i found crack!

 Category:

Was out for a walk/scouting mission today, and came across this little piece.
It's location is underneath the highway that runs right beside Rogers Arena, in between the Arena and BC Place.
Here are the specs:
Height: ~20 metres
Protectability: Will take solid cams. I would say doubles of 1 through 4 camalot.
Overhung as all hell: Yes
Fall factor: Safe
Obscurity: It's beneath an overpass, in a relatively unnoticeable location, so I would say the bust factor is quite low, especially if done after dark.
Will stay dry in damp weather: Check
Landing: Soft dirt, allows for a fairly high first piece
Topout: I can't quite recall, but there may be rail along the top, which makes slinging and rapping easy. If there isn't a rail, it would be easy enough to build a gear anchor or even rap off a single piece, then just walk up the road to collect said left gear.

It starts out completely vertical with fairly tight hands. As you get higher the crack gets wider, and it starts to sweep out until it's horizontal. The overhanging part looks like it would be fist jams, which would be ideal because I expect it would be a next to impossible offwidth. Once you pull over the roof, I think you are back in wide hand jam territory.

Post your other Vancouver buildering locations here Smiling

Vancouver buildering Sunday November 20th

Hey all,
New to buildering and Vancouver still, not to climbing though. Getting depressed that the outdoor season is over, and itching to climb something that isn't plastic.
Tomorrow is supposed to be sunny, so I was hoping to get out and scout around. No idea where to go though.
If anyone is free to go out tomorrow afternoon/evening, I live downtown Van.

Buildering UBC, New routes my friend and I found

 Category:

My friend and I go buildering every once in a while, and we've found some new routes (although not many yet), and I figured i'd post them. I dont have pictures for all of them (ill try to get some next time we go), but ill try to describe them as best as possible (and sorry for the shitty pictures...) and the names are simply to organize the climbs right now, they can change

1. We found this one while looking for the bio-science undercling, which we found out was altered, but we looked around the rest of the building and found one similar.
Bio science undercling 2.0
Its on the intersection of Main Mall and University boulevard (ill attach 2 pics of it, i dont know how to add them to the text), you end up on the sticking out ledge with the bioscience sign on it. You start out by pinching the ribs, and moving up until you can pinch the undercling, then move your body up and then go up the narrowest chimney ever (i could barely fit, and im not that big, so if your big, i wouldnt recommend it, my friend tried doing it this other way by placing his foot in the small indent in the cement facing backwards and reaching up, he almost got it, before someone spotted us and told us to go away). P.S. this climb is quite exposed, its facing a large street, so best done at night

2. Biology, zoology, botany
If you enter the bio science courtyard, you can get to some entrance near the back with pillars formed of rock bricks, climb up those, and then, if you can, mantle up the skinnest ledge ever, its terrifying to get down, because you either jump from really high, or awkwardly fall into a hanging position
(i have attached a picture)

3. Osborne corner 2.0
Its the same building, same bridge, but the other side, where its flat, instead of a corner sticking out. It's quite a bit harder, but doable with a high foot and trusting it (i dont have a picture for this one)

Writing film, checking how authentic detail is.

Just wondering if any one on here knows anybody who has done some urban climbing in Newcastle on Tyne?

Particularly whether they have climbed Cruddas Park be or after refurbishment. Wouldn't mind views on how it would be done too.

Also start a dialogue about putting a buildering charector into a film and how to make it authentic.

I will continue to document more problems on here as I find them, but this was from my first day of searching for about 3 hours or so. I will name the problem, grade it on a V scale and give you the danger rating.
