Around this time last year, I mentioned how cool it would be to make a Richard McNair jack-o-lantern, after the famous escapee who was spotted running around my neck of the woods.

Last Thursday, while shopping for gourds, Richard's face appeared on a nearby pumpkin. I couldn't believe my eyes, and turned to see if anyone else was witnessing this apparition. An eight year old boy disguised as a zombie looked at me and said: "I like turtles. I see it too Ard".

Pumpkin Richard, whose pumpkin eyes burned into my very soul, declared, "you have captured a big fish here". I immediately knew what had to be done.

I purchased the pumpkin, setup my video camera, and waited for Pumpkin Richard to broadcast his message of peace through the YouTubes. However Richard failed to appear. I begged and pleaded, but alas Pumpkin Richard was no more than a regular cucurbita pepo.

Today I read that Richard McNair was captured in the hick town of Campbellton, New Brunswick, after being spotted in a stolen van and giving a brief foot chase. He was captured on Thursday afternoon. McNair told the arresting officer, "You have captured a big fish here - you guys will be on the news tonight.''
