UBC Buildering Contest 2

Thanks to everyone who made it out to this term's buildering competition. I think it's safe to say that it was quite a success - no busts, no injuries, and lots of time for everyone to get a crack at the problems. The "no climbing shoes" rule took most by surprise. Unfortunately some people had no other suitable footwear, so we had to bend the rules a bit. You could use climbing shoes, but only if you pretended they were running shoes...after all, buildering is purely a make-believe endeavor.

Splitting off into smaller groups and spreading out over campus turned out to be a great idea, although I think trying 22 problems in a 2.5 hour period was a little too ambitious. Some groups finished the circuit, but only if they hurried. Next time I'll try and make it a little more relaxed - perhaps instead of a totaling the points for every problem, we'll only count a climber's best 3-5 problems.

Janez won again, with a commanding lead over everyone else. Is Janez the Chris Sharma of buildering? Who will take this madman down? Speaking of madmen, afterwards we all went down to the Pit Pub for drinks and festivities. Janez lit up the (empty) dancefloor with some crazy Euro-style moves. I have never seen a human being dance quite like him, it’s like hampsterdance.com on crack cocaine. Rumour has it the man went to dance school to hone his unique style. True or false? Discuss.

Standings:

1. Janez (1400 pts)
2. Dan (1030 Pts)
3. SteveZ (1010 Pts)

PS: Sorry, no climbing photos this year. It was dark out and I was shooting 50 speed film Sad
